Residential Services

What time should I have my cart out?

Please place your trash and recycling carts curbside by 6am on your scheduled service days.

How do I pay my bill?

Harter’s is excited to offer auto pay as our preferred payment method for residential customers. Other options include manual payment online through our pay my bill page, cash or check through the US mail, or feel free to give us a call to make payments over the phone. We accept all major credit and debit cards.

How do I request a new cart?

What if my pickup is missed?

Can I have more than one cart?

What can I recycle?

PLASTICS

  • Soda Bottles
  • Milk Jugs
  • Shampoo Bottles
  • Contact Solution Bottles
  • Detergent Bottles
  • Motor Oil Bottles (Must be drained)
 

TIN AND ALUMINUM

  • Aluminum and Tin Cans
  • Aluminum Foil and Pie Plates (Cannot be soiled with food)
  • Wire Clothes Hangers
  • Empty Aerosol Cans
 

CARDBOARD/PAPER

  • Any type of corrugated boxes
  • Cereal Boxes (Plastic inserts removed)
  • Soda Boxes & Beer Cartons
  • Mail and Envelopes (Plastic windows are OK)
  • Magazine and Catalogs
  • Phone Books
  • Egg Cartons
 

GLASS JARS AND BOTTLES

  • Any clear or colored jar and bottle
 

PLEASE REMEMBER

  • No “soiled” food containers can be recycled (Dirty paper plates, etc).

  • Dirty bottles and jars should be rinsed out. (Ketchup bottles, spaghetti sauce jars, etc.)

  • Do NOT bag the recyclables. All items should be placed loosely into the cart

Do I have to sort my recyclables?

No, Harter’s is proud to offer single stream recycling services in all of our service areas.

How often do you pick up the residential trash/recycling?

Harter’s services most residential customers trash and recycling once weekly. Rural customers may vary.

What size trash and recycling cans are available?

Currently we offer 95-gallon (large size) carts for both residential trash and recycling service.  65 gallon (medium size) carts are available for customers who request via calling our office.

Do you have a referral program?

We currently offer a referral program for existing customers to refer new residential customers.

I signed up online. When will my service start?

Please refer to your “Welcome Email” to determine your service start date.  If you have any additional questions or need additional assistance, please use our contact us page to submit any questions and we will follow up with you shortly.

How do I cancel or change my service?

Please submit a request through our contact us and we will follow up with you shortly.

How do I update my contact information?

Please navigate to pay my bill page and log in to your account to update your contact information.

How should my cart be placed at the curb?

Carts must be placed in the boulevard area approximately 1 foot from the curb or alley. Do not place your carts in the street! Carts must be placed at least 3 feet from obstacles such as utility poles, mailboxes, trees and parked cars. There must be 3 feet between the carts. Make sure the cart handle faces away from the street toward your home. When your carts are delivered, they will be placed in the most ideal location for service. Please place the carts in the same location each week for collection.

What is your Holiday Schedule?

Collection will be delayed one day, if the Holiday falls on a weekday.

Can my account be placed on hold if I am on vacation?

Please submit a request through our contact us  and we will follow up with you shortly.

Do you pick up bulky items?

At this time, we do not accept bulky items such as mattresses, couches, chairs or appliances curbside. Please contact us with any questions or concerns.

Can I have extra trash outside of my cart?

All trash and recycling must fit into the provided carts, any extras outside of the cart may be picked up at Harter’s discretion and may result in additional charges to your account.

Commercial Services

What size containers are available?

Harter’s offers the following container sizes for our commercial customers:
• 2 cubic yard – holds approximately 220 pounds
• 4 cubic yard – holds approximately 440 pounds
• 6 cubic yard – holds approximately 660 pounds
• 8 cubic yard – holds approximately 880 pounds

What is your pickup schedule?

Harter’s will service your cans as often as needed or is agreed upon based on your business’s needs. Examples of service frequencies are multiple times per week, weekly, every other week, and monthly.

How do I change my container size or pickup schedule?

Roll-Off Dumpster Services

What size containers are available?

Please visit our roll-off services page to learn more about our roll off container sizes and uses. 

Can you place it in the street?

We will be happy to discuss options with you at the time you set up services, often the street is a good option.

Does the area need to be paved or concrete?

No, however Harter’s is not liable for turf, yard or property damage as a result of requested box placement.

How long do I get to keep the container?

Please use our contact us form and we will help to determine your needs and provide solutions that fit your timeline and budget.

Can my load be over the top rails of the container?

No, all trash and recycling must not show above the top rails of the container.

Are your roll offs available for residential use?

Yes, please use our contact us form for more information. We will help you determine the best size for your project. 

How do I request a pickup earlier than expected?
